Offset Printing
Offset Printing is a commonly used printing technique where the inked image is transferred (or "offset") from a plate to a rubber blanket, then to the printing surface. This process suits large runs of promotional brochures, flyers, magazines and business cards.
Capable of producing one colour through to full colour (four colour process) on an endless array of papers, cards and artboards. We recommend using offset print when you are after the best possible product for your longer commercial print runs greater than 1000 copies, where cost effectiveness is best. With high quality, a greater variety of stock options and finishes, offset printing is ideal for all your printing needs.
CMYK (Four Colour Process) or Spot Colours.
With CMYK all colours are reproduced using a mix of four basic colours Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black which approximate the intended colour being printed. This method of colour reproduction is typically used for flyers, magazines and brochures that require a full colour range.
Where absolute colour fidelity is needed then Spot color printing is used. Here the ink colours are defined by the Pantone Matching System (PMS) These colours have a specific worldwide and industry standard number that ensures accuracy print to print even if many years have passed between print runs.
Occasionally a print run may require the use of both CMYK and Spot colour inks to be used, an example of this may be a full colour brochure that also needs some detail picked out in a metallic or even a varnish in order to enhance the final product.
Advantages Of Offset Printing
• Provides consistent quality and produces sharp and clean images and type.
• This printing process allows different textures and stock variety.
• Production of offset printing plates is fast, easy and also have a long printing life.
• The more your print the more you save – economies of scale.
• Allows special colours like metallic and spot colour.
Digital Printing
Digital Printing is where we produce copies directly from computer to a nominated printing material. While there is a higher cost per unit when compared to offset printing, this method is ideal for small print runs that require quick turnaround times and where offset proves uneconomic.
CMYK and RGB Process
This process also requires no printing plates so there is less time and expense involved in setting up a file to print which is why it is ideal for short runs. What this means to you is that digitally printed work can typically be turned around in a very short period of time, from approval of artwork, to a proof being produced, through to the finished product.
Unlike the offset printing process proofs for digital printing can be printed on the final stock choice for accurate colour checking. By utilizing the latest innovations in technology digital printing can help your business save time and money.
Advantages Of Digital Printing
• Fast and economical, ideal for short runs
• The process is easy from proof to final printed product
• Personalisation is an option eg: unique numbering or individual names
• Variety stock to choose from or you can supply your own paper (subject to
printer specifications)
